You can’t box me in, I’m versatile—Blaqbonez says about his music

Published

on

Emeka Akumefule, known as Blaqbonez was the guest on Nancy Isime’s Trending show which airs on HipTV. On the daily entertainment show, he speaks about his career path and the kind of music he makes.

When asked what his music entails, the rapper and singer answered: “I pride myself in being versatile, every time I come out [with a new song], I try to make sure it’s different from the last thing.” Blaqbonez says while citing Drake as his biggest inspiration in the music industry worldwide.

Nancy Isime went further to ask Blaqbonez what his thoughts are about being labelled the “touch bearer of rap in Nigeria” to which he gave the reply: “I honestly I’m not trying to get boxed in, so anytime there’s any rap conversations, I don’t care about that. . . I’m versatile.” Blaqbonez goes further to say the era of championing himself as the “Best Rapper in Africa” or BRIA (for short) is over, that he only went with the vibe because of the response he got from saying those words in one of his songs and since people cared much about what he had to say, he used the BRIA tag to his advantage, taking his music to the mainstream forefront; even testifying to the fact that many rappers call themselves ‘the best’ on their songs but no one really pays attention.

Olakira finally acquires a Maserati

Published

on

Olakira who released the catchy groundbreaking hit single last year June titled In My Maserati, a song which had him show off his wooing skills but unlike the cheesy pick-up line go-to used by other guys, Olakira flexed and simply asked the girl to “Hop in my Maserati”. The song even became more of a hit when Davido jumped on it, adding a verse to the remix, which was simplified as Maserati, instead of it’s original three-word title.

It is September of 2021, a year and 3 months since the original release of Olakira’s debut hit single and what better way to celebrate the blessings that came forth from it, than buy spoiling himself. Olakira does this by actually acquiring a Maserati car for himself.

The blue coloured speed beauty, a Maserati Lavante Hybrid 2021 model costs about $78,290 (USD) (according to car.usnews.com), an approximate 32,216,335.00 in naira; Olakira captions this “A dream come through, we rave in a maserati now!!

Since Maserati, Olakira has gone on to release other singles including his sophomore EP—”4play”—in May of this year. Congratulations to him.

With quite a number of commendable EPs to her name, Bella Alubo decides it is finally time for her to release her grand LP—Bella Buffet—served on a large dining table with a host of options to devour from its ‘Appetizers’ (tracks 1-3), ‘Soups’ (tracks 4-6), ‘Specials’ (7-10), ‘Salad’ (11-14) and finally the ‘Desserts’ (song 15-17).

With her debut LP, Bella “Bentley” Alubo tries stepping out of her comfort zone and experiments with numerous genres of music and speaks on quite a few subject matter, complimentary of her debut album’s title. Allow me list some out:

• Afro-house godmother Niniola hops on South African amapiano themed “Location”.
• East african makossa “Little Bum Bum” piques listeners interest in dancing, providing the right ambiance for it.
• Traditional jamaican reggae production captions the blunt honesty on “White Lies”.
• Afro R&B “Green Eyed Monster” with Keziah Mallam.
• Classic R&B on “Options”.
• Highlife “Know You” with Dremo who experiments with emo rap.
