Published

on

With the recent release of his sophomore album—“Rum & Boogie”—Peruzzi continues to establish himself as one of the foremost singers and songwriters in Nigeria and to that end, credits keep flowing from the four corners of the earth, evident by reviews from music critics and fans on social media.

Peruzzi, born Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, career in music started flourishing with notable songwriting credits from label boss and mate, Davido on songs like “FIA”, “Ada” with E Cool and “For Your Pocket” remix which he featured on but not until “Amaka” with 2Baba did Peruzzi’s music talent (not songwriting alone) shone to the limelight and mainstream of the Nigerian music industry.

In an interview with okayafrica, the R&B and Pop singer revealed when he started giving out songs he wrote to artistes like Davido, he was not so loud about it like he is today, he tells the interviewer, “In the beginning, I did not want anybody to know me, I like people to get their glory”, adding, “Songwriting is not something I thought I would do to make ends meet.”

He talks so much more in the interview, including what prompted him coming out of his shell to being a funny guy on social media to why he had to change his album’s name to “Rum & Boogie” instead of the initially planned title – Gaza. To find out, read the full interview here.
