Police arraign guests for incurring N453,000 debts in hotel

Two guests at a hotel in Oke-Odo, Sangotedo area of Lagos State, have been taken to a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly incurring debts estimated at N453,000.

The suspects – Rasheed Olatunbosun, 37, and Adeniyi Adetoye, 27 – were said to have checked into the hotel sometime in December 2018 with a woman, who is still at large.
City Round learnt that the trio had presented themselves at the hotel as company officials who came for a seminar in the area.
Our correspondent gathered that after spending about two weeks in the facility, the woman disappeared, leaving her colleagues behind.
When asked to pay the bill for the period, the two men reportedly claimed that the fleeing suspect was their boss and that she was supposed to settle the bill
The hotel management invited the police and they were arrested and charged with fraud.
A police prosecutor, Sergeant F. Adeleye, told the court that the offence contravened sections 315 (a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The two-count charge read, “That you, Rasheed Olatunbosun, 37, and Adeniyi Adetoye, 27, and another at large, on December 2018, at 20.30hrs (8.30pm), at Jonaith Hotel, Oke-Odo, Sangotedo, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: obtaining by false pretence, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
“That you, Olatunbosun Rasheed, and Adeniyi Adetoye, on the same day, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, with intent to defraud, did obtain credit for yourselves by incurring debts of N453,000 owed to Jonaith Hotel and Suites, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 315 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

Nicki Minaj agrees “Essence” should be song of the year at the Grammys

American superstar rapper, Nicki Minaj, shares the same sentiments as myriads of Wizkid fans and well-wishers worldwide, in that she concurs to the argument the trendsetting crossover record-breaking single from Wizkid’s 2020 released “Made In Lagos” album, Essence should be in the conversation for the coveted “Record of the Year” plaque at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Although “Essence” did not receive the much desired nomination in the category for “Record of the Year” at the 2022 Grammy Awards, it did get a nod for Best Global Music Performance, the first of its kind.

Irrespective of the snub, Nicki whilie on Joe Budden TV (YouTube) as a guest on the special episode tagged A Conversation With Nicki Minaj & Joe Budden agreed with the host (Joe Budden) when he said “We need people on the Grammy board that know that “Essence” was song of the year” with an exclamatory “Right! Right!” response. She even proffered, “We should have our own Grammy Board“, in support of many and the popular believe that Black Americans or black artistes in general are always stereotyped to a particular category at the award show, if indeed they made it to the top categories, they barely win; Nicki Minaj does not have a Grammy Award herself and that is still a shock to many, especially when considering her refined catalogue of music.
