The rest is just excuses.” Fans and users of the app took it personally and attacked him and tagged him ‘proud’ and ‘inconsiderate’ for putting out such words especially during this pandemic and generalised he makes such comment due to his wealthy upbringing.

Kidd Waya speaking with BBC said regarding the tweet that it was “misinterpretated” and what he actually meant was that “hardwork gets you far. It’s simply for motivational purposes.”

Talking on Nigerians generalising kids from wealthy background, he goes on to say: “I feel like in this country, a son or daughter from a wealthy background cannot have an opinion, cannot talk . . . cannot think, they’re not allowed to do anything.” Speaking further on his stance regarding the tweet and how he is viewed as being proud, he says: “I’m not one to brag or to demeanour anybody, I was simply giving an advise and people took it the wrong way.”

On what it is like being a billionaire son, he reveals: “To be a billionaire son is not easy, me myself, I’m not billionaire. I try not to look at the title, the tag ‘billionaire’. I try to focus on myself as that is my dad’s life, that is his hard earned money. I’m still trying to hustle for myself.”

Regarding Nigerians misconceptions about his work ethic, he told BBC: “What I face on a regular, people don’t believe I work hard, because they believe “it’s your dad’s cash, your dad gave it to you.” They have this misconception that everyone from a wealthy background gets things handed to them easily and to be fair, that’s not the case.” Telling he knows a lot of people in the industry from wealthy background who work just as hard as their fellow colleagues.

Published

on

Ahead of his ‘Rum & Boogie’ album, Huncho Peruzzi dishes out the video to the collaboration between himself and YBNL’s Fireboy DML, the title — Southy Love.

Peruzzi who is well known for his lyrics, kept the rhythm intact while also adding relatable lyrics with the primary focus aimed at the feminine gender but also giving off nice danceable tunes; kudos to P Priime on the production work. Peruzzi did deliver the ‘boogie’ part of his upcoming album on this song.

Fireboy DML might just be the stellar act from Southy Love‘s music video, from the fantastic work on the hoom to his personal verse to letting all loose, showing off his dance moves, we can tell he was very comfortable on the set and that transcended well into the visuals.

Mr Layiii directed the video for Southy Love which has three major scenes — (1) with Fireboy DML in a very narrow hallway with gravity-type arts on the walls; (2) with Peruzzi surrounded by models in a dark space where only their attires and the curtains provided light and color to the scene; (3) on the street, at night, where street dancers are ushered in from a danfo, showcasing their dancing skills.
