Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known by his artiste alias, Mayorkun, is officially Back In Office, this he did by blending sounds from East and Southern Africa with elements of Afropop into making a statement album, in which he touches on topics relating to introspection, self-awareness, renaissance, gratitude and of course still making club records which guarantee the listeners gyrating their body, moving it in accordance to the heavy drums and other percussions used in the instrumentation of the songs.

On Back In Office, Mayorkun swayed a bit from making his classical wordplay type songs, instead choosing to go with the trending Afropop rhythm, putting his own twist into each song so as to make it sound unique. As mentioned earlier, Mayorkun blended East African sound “Nakupenda” on which he even spoke a bit of Swahili, the track is produced by Napji who Mayorkun credits for the assistance in writing and speaking of the Swahili lyrics and of course, Southern Africa sounds kept resurfacing like on the title track “Back In Office”, “Jay Jay” and incorporated a little into the making of “Holy Father”.

Mayorkun works with Ghanaian songstress, Gyakie, SA’s finest – DJ Maphorisa, Nigerian Highlife singer – Flavour, Alternative R&B/pop fast-rising act – Victony and everyone’s favourite Afropop star – Joeboy in making sure Back In Office came out according to how he envisioned. The album contains 12 songs including 2 promotional songs in “Back In Office” and “Let Me Know” with the former being the most recent.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to listen to Back In Office, the sophomore album by Mayorkun.
