Pheelz releases debut EP – ‘Hear Me Out’ (first listen review)

Published

Nigerian producer extraordinaire, Pheelz aka Pheelzonthebeat, known for his riddim-ma-cool-la-yor tag releases his debut EP as promised and trust me, it is definitely work the worth. The EP has the title—Hear Me Out.

Cover artwork for Hear Me Out EP.

On reasons behind choosing Hear Me Out as the title for his debut project, Pheelz (born Phillip Kayode Moses) explains, the world has heard his beats, his sound, now is the time for the world to hear the voice behind the Rii tag

Hear Me Out is filled with five songs that is sung across different genre of music but Pop as their foundation sound. ‘Wayward Girl’ blends Pop with Afrobeat (Afro-Pop if you may); ‘Somebody’ mixes electronic with Pop; ‘La Vida’ brings back the Afro-Pop vibes; on ‘One Life’, Pheelz visits the surging Amapiano sound from South Africa; with ‘Many Men’ Pheelz explores the Carribean-born Reggae sound.

Tracklist and credits for Hear Me Out EP.

While keeping the lyrics cordial, sensual and carefree according to the subject matter of each song, Pheelz really did an excellent job on his debut project, not forgetting the fact he did all this without features, even making it more impressive.

Another impressive feat, Pheelz accomplished apart from being the sole and only producer on his debut project, he also stands as the sole songwriter on Hear Me Out (according to credits).

Probably if I could change or add anything as a suggestion, it would come on the second track – ‘Somebody’. I would have loved to hear more of the electronic production, instead of Pheelz who opt to add the electronic guitar instrumentation majorly at the beginning of the track and to close it.
